Wail Alkowaileet

Wail Alkowaileet is currently a Ph.D. student in computer science at the University of California, Irvine ( UCI) and a Research Associate at the Center for Complex Engineering Systems at KACST and MIT (CCES). He received B.Sc. in Computer Science at King Saud University and his M.Sc. in Computer at University of California, Irvine. Currently, Wail is pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of California, Irvine under the supervision of Professor Michael J. Carey in the ISG group. Since joining CCES, Wail has been working on several projects (such as CityDynamics, Integrated Transportation Systems, Innovation Space and Connected Intelligent Platform) which require harnessing large-scale of heterogeneous data. Wail’s role was to enable researchers handling large volume of data and data streams in a shared-nothing architecture using several big data systems Apache Spark, Apache AsterixDB and Apache Zeppelin. Wail’s interests include big data management systems, GPGPU and large-scale ML systems.
